Hello World,

This is probably a big news for a lot of us ! The Proxmox VE Team just released (30 March 2012)  the final version of their virtualization solution : Proxmox VE 2.0

Grab your version !

You can download the final code at the following location :

Lately, I didn’t have a lot of time to write about Proxmox VE 2.0 but I’ll probably start again in the coming weeks.  It’s time to see the in and out of the final version of the product.  I’m thinking of creating a “new section” dedicated to Proxmox VE 2.0 topics.

I’m still running an old version of Proxmox VE (1.9 version).  One of my coming post about Proxmox VE 2.0 would be related to the upgrade process.  The PVE wiki already provides some good information. We will test that and share our experience.

The new road map look promising as well . Proxmox VE Team will try to integrate in their products two interesting technologies in the coming versions.  These technologies are

  • spice protocol (which will introduce VD-I capabilities)
  • sheepdog (which aims to introduce distributed storage management capabilities)

Final Words !

Proxmox VE 2.0 is becoming a more complex product.  This new release introduces a lot of changes in terms of technology and capabilities.  On the other hand, the product is gaining in maturity which make the solution more enterprise ready than ever.

Till next Time

See ya
