Some News From ProxMox VE (version 1.8 is out & version 2 (beta) is on the way)!
Hello World,
This post will be quite short. It’s just to let you know that the ProxMox VE team is working hard on upcoming an new releases of their open source virtualization solution. If you visit their wiki web site, you will noticed that :
- ProxMox VE 1.8 is out since end March 2011. I would describe this release a a maintenance release where kernel and kvm packages have been updated to newer version. I updated really smoothly from a ProxMox VE 1.5 to 1.8.
- ProxMox VE 2.0 is on its way. The Wiki was mentioning that a first beta version would be available for Q2/2011. This would be definitely a Beta version but I would like to see how the web Interface will be redesign based on the Ext JS 4 framework. I really like the current web interface because it’s stable, fast, simple and clear.
- The document section is providing more and more information. Feedback and workaround provided by the community (through the Proxmox VE forum) is being integrated into the documentation. If you need to find information, tips and tricks, or howto, you should definitely have a look at the Proxmox VE Wiki site. Do not forget to have a look at the Proxmox VE forum if you do not find immediately what you are looking for….
On my side, I hope that in the coming weeks, I’ll be able to publish some additional information and How To guides about Proxmox VE. I’ll try to keep an eye on the Proxmox VE on a regular basis so I would be able to blog over the version 2.0 of the product. Apparently, version 2.0 will definitely introduce some major changes… Let’s wait and see
That’s it for this post….. Stay tune…. Some more technical articles are on their way : – )
Till then
See ya
