Best Wishes 2019

Hello World,

This is the moment of the year where greetings are shared through the web.  It’s also the moment of the year to look back at what has been achieved in the past 12 months and set new goals for the coming year…

Best wishes 2019 …..

It’s time to leave a busy year 2018 and move into year 2019 with a positive mindset in order to achieve goals and wishes for the coming months. Thank to all the people who have followed us during 2018 and provided positive feedback. Thank to our customers and partners and friends as well for the trust and confidence they have placed in us….

We have been working hard in 2018 and we have been trying to provide as much as information as it was possible about some of our favorites topic. But again, as we are all busy and we are facing more difficult projects, it’s not always possible.. We have not published too many posts lately because we had to sorted out a lot of administrative actions in order to get ready for 2019…

We would like to present our best wishes to all of you for this new year 2019.  We hope that the coming year will be bright for all of you..

Looking back (2018)…..

2018 was the year of….Ubuntu !   When Canonical decided to drop Unity Desktop interface in Ubuntu 18.04, a lot of people were scared about the future of their favorites Linux Desktop operating system. This decision made a big impact on Internet and for a while everybody was speaking about this major change…It turned out that this decision helped making Ubuntu more visible and forced Canonical to deliver one of the most stable and enjoyable version of Ubuntu.  Ubuntu 18.04 is considered as one of the best release by a lot of people.  Canonical has made a great job in maintaining the same look n feel between Unity and Gnome in order to ease the transition between Ubuntu versions.  We have been working for some time now with Ubuntu 18.04 and we have been deploying this operating system in multiple scenarios (corporate use, personal use, recycling MacBook computer,…). Even people with minimum experience with Ubuntu 18.04 can start to work quite quickly..

With the release of Ubuntu 18.04, through our blog, we have been working a lot in improving the xRDP installation and Configuration process through the creation of two scripts.  We have rewritten our famous installation script and have really improved the post configuration process.  Nowadays, it’s really simple to install the xRDP package and perform a remote connection.  However, the simple installation does not provide the same look n feel as a user would expect within the remote session.  Moreover, the manual installation does not configure some settings which can make the remote session a nightmare when you see a bunch of popup or crash messages appearing….

We have developed two scripts (Standard installation and custom installation) that automate most of these tasks and configuration.  If you want to know more about this, have a look at http://c-nergy.be/products.html

2018 was not the year of Microsoft…. Buggy updates on Windows 10 was the major headlines end of 2018.  In 2018, we have discovered the hard way that other patches for other Microsoft products have been also delivered through their patching channels which were as buggy as the Windows 10 versions.  Installing some of the MS patches, we have broken (and fixed later on) Exchange implementations and Critical Cluster implementations…. For Microsoft, year 2019 might start with better news as the new Windows 2019 server release has been made available and we can see that this release brings some interesting features and improvements and we can expect to see a lot of blogs and information about 2019 Server edition.

Looking Forward (2019) …..

What to expect in 2019 ?  We do not know yet.. We can see that Cloud, Container, DevOps are still rising topics and concerns.  Some customers are ready to move their infrastructure to the cloud while some others prefer to maintain control on their infrastructure.  This scenario becomes difficult if you are a Windows Shop as Microsoft is pushing customers to move to the cloud….Because this topic is becoming so important and because we receiving requests about that, we might start posting some info about Cloud Infrastructure…

In 2019, we will keep speaking about Ubuntu and xRDP as new releases are being foreseen. Our installation scripts will be updated in order to take into account new features that could be included in the coming releases… If time permits, we would love to blog a little bit more on Windows 2019 server editions and some specific improved features and technologies that have been included in this release.  Exchange 2019 has also been released and it might be worth to have a quick look on what’s new and what has changed in this release…. New projects are coming around Exchange 2019…Finally, we might want to continue building and sharing information about Remote Desktop Services Infrastructure (RDS) and again if time permits about OS Deployment techniques…

As you can see, we might be again busy in 2019…

Final Notes

This is it for this post !

Enjoy your holidays and get ready for 2019.  We wish you all the best for the future…

Till next time
